Dr. Eric R Yesner Pre-Medical Endowed Memorial Scholarship

Dr. Eric R. Yesner passed away suddenly in his sleep on August 14th, 2019 at the age of 30, only months after finishing his medical education and beginning his Family Medicine residency at University Hospitals in Cleveland.  While Eric will never have the opportunity to have a full medical career and to help patients in need, with your help, his legacy will through the creation of this scholarship.

What makes the Dr. Eric R Yesner Memorial Scholarship so extra special, is that it is endowed in partnership with the Rutgers Foundation.  That means that once we surpass $50,000 in gifts and pledges for future gifts, the scholarship will exist forever.  Every year, two recipients will receive scholarships for tuition who are in pursuit of a pre-medicine track at Rutgers from this scholarship fund.  Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Rutgers Foundation based upon their need and merits.  Sadly, Eric's time to spread his positivity through practice was cut short, but his memory will live on in a positive way. The family and friends survived by Eric are grateful to you for helping to instill that memory permanently as a scholarship for aspiring doctors to achieve their goals. 

Dr. Eric Yesner graduated from Cherry Hill High School East in 2007, Rutgers University in 2011, and went on to receive his Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Rowan University. He passed away abruptly in his sleep just two months into his residency in Family Medicine at University Hospitals in Cleveland.  His passing shook his community. Eric is survived by his parents, Joan & Les Yesner (both Rutgers grads), siblings Brittany (Rutgers grad), Greg (Rutgers grad & PhD), and Kimberly, nephew Ryan, niece Kaitlyn, and grandparents Judy and Harvey Horowitz.  Because of your gift, each year, a scholarship recipient will be one step closer to becoming a doctor and will have Eric to thank for that, and Eric’s family will have a reminder of how great Eric’s legacy truly is.

Eric was kind. Eric was humble. He would have never asked for this, but he deserves it more than anyone. Eric may not get to touch the lives of patients every day, but with your help, his legacy will.
